Is OST™ the Same as Nanobubbles?

Is Oxygen Saturation Technology (OST™) nanobubbles, nanobubbles in disguise, or nanobubbles rebranded?

We get this question more often than one would realize: is Oxygen Saturation Technology (OST™) nanobubbles, nanobubbles in disguise, or nanobubbles rebranded? The short answer, long answer, and only answer is NO. OST™ is not nanobubbles.

Oxygen Saturation Technology (OST™) is an advanced, industrial-grade aeration system designed to overcome the challenges faced by traditional aeration methods for all forms of oxygen management related to any aquatic environment. This includes lakes and ponds, lift station odor control, and aquaculture, to name a few. What makes OSTTM unique is its highly efficient way to dissolve oxygen into water. All aquatic life needs oxygen in the dissolved form. Organisms that need oxygen in gaseous form do not live in aquatic environments, and thus consume oxygen from the atmosphere just like we do.

What makes OSTTM so efficient is our patented oxygen contact chamber design. The oxygen contact chamber design promotes greater than 90% oxygen transfer through the flow pattern and corresponding bubble dissolution characteristics. Any gas remaining undissolved, which is mostly nitrogen, are captured in the patented bubble capture system (BCS) and released through a controlled gas purge mechanism.

What makes OSTTM so good at blanketing the sediments with oxygen and preserving thermal structure is the method in which OST is deployed. All OSTTM pumping components are designed to be positioned on the bottom of the lake/pond. This allows water withdrawn from the bottom of the lake to remain the same temperature. Therefore, when the oxygen-enriched water is discharged, it stays at the lake bottom.

What makes OSTTM so economical is a combination of the high oxygen transfer efficiency, which reduces the operating cost to 57 cents/kg per day and automation. OSTTM uses automation that maintains pre-programmed DO levels. The system automatically switches on or off based on real-time monitoring of in-lake DO concentrations, resulting in significant energy savings.

These characteristics allow OST™ to deliver unmatched efficiency compared to other systems, thus making it a superior choice to any oxygen/aeration strategy on the market.
